Shurtloff lode of Findley Produces Great Amount
Findley—In this mine, on Bull hill, on the 1,100-ft level of the Shurtoff claim, is a stope 30 ft. wide and 100 ft. long. During the current month machine drills have removed ore vertically but 4 ft.; but of 4 ft. from a stope 3 by 150 ft. means a great amount of ore.

This shoot has been proven at several points between the 1.100-ft. and the 500-ft. levels, and it is thought it will continue to the surface.

During the year the company has paid dividends every month, and has expended 40,000 in surface improvements.

Findley Mine in Good Grade
Cripple Creek, March 31. (Special Correspondence)—Some good-grade ore has been encountered at a depth of 1,500 ft. in the Findley mine on Bull hill. Calaverite shows in many places. This new discovery is of importance, as it has been made at the greatest depth to which tellurides have been found in the camp as far as is known.

The output of the Findley mine approximates 100 tons per day, which is shipped to the Golden Cycle mill at Colorado City for treatment.

Strike in the Findley.

A strike of good ore is reported to have been made on the Findley mine on Bull hill. At a depth of 850 ft. on the tenth level a new vein has been encountered and from the assay-returns the ore should ship between two and three ounces.

The Findley ore is to be treated at the Portland mill at Colorado City until such time as the Golden Cycle is in operation. This will be the first custom ore the Portland mill will have treated.

Strike in the Findley.

The rich vein of ore recently encountered on the tenth, or 875-ft. level of the Findley mine, on Bull hill, has been cut at greater depth on the eleventh level. Assays as high as $400 per ton have been obtained, and the ore when shipped is expected to give returns around two ounces per ton.

On the tenth level the orebody has been proved up for a width of 20 ft., and it is an entirely new one in the history of the mine.

Commander Removes Troops
Denver, Dec. 16.—A Republican special from Cripple Creek last night says:

All troops which have been stationed at the Findley mine were withdrawn to-day by order of Colonel Verdeckberg, the commander of the National Guard in this district. It is believed by the military commander and his advisers that the conditions no longer require military protection. The non-union men working can fully protect themselves and have so declared themselves.

The move is a significant one, indicating the confidence the military authorities have in the situation.

Strike Situation at Cripple Creek
President Moyer, of the Western Federation of Miners, on March 17 refused the offer of the United States Reduction and Refining Company to have Chief Justice Campbell or a man named by Governor Peabody investigate the strike at the company's mill at Colorado City, with a view to arbitration, and ordered out 600 miners employed on Stratton's Independence, the Hull City Placer, Granite, and Findley mines, all of which ship to the Standard Mill

Findley Lease Ended
Cripple Creek.—(Special.)—Yesterday Steelsmith & Weaver, operating the Findley on Bull hill, made their final shipment, consisting of sixteen carloads of $40 ore.

The lease expired the other day, and for a while it was thought that the company would renew, but such is not the case. The lessees, it is understood, leave the property way behind, notwithstanding that of late they have shipped considerable ore. They did thousands of dollars' worth of development work before encountering the ore.
