Homestake Operators in Good Ore
Colorado Spring, August 4.—William Barbee and Sidney Bavy, of the Homestake Mining Company, joining the Gold Knob on the north, have encountered a good body of ore at a comparatively shallow depth that averages from $360 to $408 to the ton.
These operators have a bond and lease for a period of three years and have plenty of time to demonstrate whether or not this new strike is a permanent one.

Homestake Lessees Reports Good Vein
Old Homestake.—It is reported that Barbee & Co., who are working this property above the Taylor & Brunton sampler, near Bull Cliffs, have opened a vein of ore, assays from which show values of from $200 to $300 to the ton. The ore was encountered at a depth of thirty feet from the surface, and varies from four to six inches in width.
The lessees are working in the 100-foot level in the hope of opening the vein at that depth. They have a three years' bond and lease on the property.
The property has been idle for several years until taken hold of recently by the present operators.

Homestake Mine Active Again
Another 'outside' property, the Homestake, on Big Bull mountain east of Bull hill, and north-east of Victor, is again active under bond and lease. The property is being operated from the 1000-ft. level of the Golden Cycle mine, a long cross-cut having been carried out when that mine was controlled by the Milliken interests.
Joe Carr, former superintendent of the Golden Cycle, and associates hold the lease and bond on the Homestake.
