New Ore-shoot in Burns Shaft
It is reported that a new ore-shoot has been discovered in the Burns shaft of the Acacia Mining Co. Assay tests on two feet of the ore show as high as $500 per ton, but the average value per ton is probably $50.

The full width of the vein is not yet determined, though there is good reason to expect that it will be four or five feet wide at the point of discovery, and one wall has yet to be crosscut.

Free gold occurs in the vein quartz. The vein is supposed to be an extension of a rich vein that occurs in Stratton's American Eagles mine, a nearby property.

South Burns Might Be Worked From American Eagle
It is proposed to 'sink' the South Burns shaft of the Acacia Gold Mining Co. 200 ft. by 'raising.'

This will be done by cross-cutting from the American Eagles mine, 1450 ft. deep, to a point directly under the South Burns shaft, and then drive the raise.

South Burns Ore-House Almost Ready
Cripple Creek, Colorado.

Standard Leasing Co.

The enlargement of the ore-house of the Standard Leasing Co. operating the South Burns claim of the Acacia Co. on Bull hill, is nearing completion; the ore-house will hold about 300 tons and will contain six tables, accommodating 12 ore-sorters.

The ore-body being mined at a depth of 800 ft. is an extension of that of the Findley and Shurtloff and regular shipments of good grade are being made right along. The shaft has been sunk 60 ft. below the 800-ft. level, and a drift is being commenced for the exploitation of the orebody to the north.

Acacia Quarrel and Sinks
Acacia—A lively quarrel is still on between the two factions of the Acacia, each attempting to get control at the annual meeting in the latter part of January. Several circulars have been issued by both sides.

It is reported that some of the rich ore-shoots of the Shurtloff property run into the Acacia ground. The only important work at present in progress on the mine is the sinking of the McKensie shaft on the south end, put down for the purpose of exploiting the Shurtloff ore-shoots.

Mr. Harry Curll is Fortunate
Harry Curll, the fortunate lessee on the Burns, is enjoying a visit from his father. It is understood that the colonel has retired from business, but the body of ore his son has opened makes the old gentleman a trifle nervous.

This paper gave the first news of the new find at 570 feet in the Burns to the public. While it was generally believed, there were doubters, and the doubters will get their medicine later on.

Emma No. 2 Lessees Give Hope To Burns Leasee
Some lessees on the Emma No. 2 have done a good thing for Lessee Wrockliff on the Burns, or at least that is what it looks like just now.

It appears that the Emma No. 2 boys have been following a small vein of good ore at 40 feet until suddenly they realized that they were close on if not quite at the end of their ground.

Where they have been digging they have failed to get a big body, but the fairly-sized ore vein they have been working on runs from 9 to 14 ounces to the ton.

Wrockliff, on the Burns, has started a crosscut for it at the 200-foot level, and expects to find the vein within a few feet.

MACHINERY GOES WITH THE LEASE—EXTENSION GRANTED

—————————

J. H. Sanborn has sold his bond and lease on the Burns of the Acacia company, to Cole and Hankey, together with the plant of machinery on the property. The Acacia company has agreed to extend the lease for eighteen months, and the new lessees will begin work on their ground by September 1. The bond calls for $150,000.

The Burns lode lies on Bull hill at the west edge of the town of Altman, adjoining the Pharmacist. The property has been a producer in the past, but has now been closed down for some time.

The locality is good, and there is little doubt that a progressive management with plenty of money behind it will find a good body of ore.

Pharmacist, Tenolra and Burns Ore-Shoot Description
The veins of the Pharmacist and Tenolra and Burns are connected by drifts. The two pockets which in 1892 paid $84,000 dividends in a few months were V-like in shape and near the surface the V's were pretty close together, at 250 feet the ore ceased, the arms of the V came to a point. A new ore-shoot has since been found at 250 feet, the pockets two to five feet wide. Shaft was sunk 590 feet when the top of another pocket or ore-shoot was found, eighty feet in length and sixty feet deep and still continuing at 650 feet.
