Independence Consolidated Co. Case Settled
Independence Consolidated.—A settlement in the pending litigation has allowed the company to resume work. All the sub-lessees who obtained the right to work under the former lessee will be recognized by the company.
Fully 200 men have applied for leases and many of these will be granted as fast as possible.
The settlement was amicable, with Mr. A. E. Carlton on one side and Mr. W. P. Dunham, general manager of the company, on the other.
The Independence company paid the bill presented by Mr. Carlton for the expense gone to by him in making ready to start operations when the company sought to cancel his lease.
Both sides say that the settlement was amicable.
By the settlement the Minnie Belle and Lucky Find claims of the Independence property and the Pride of the Hills, Christmas Bells, Christmas Bells No. 2, Lucksure, Independence claims and all other claims of the Mountain Beauty company were settled, the Mountain Beauty company deeding everything east of the west side line of the Minnie Bell on the one hand and the Independence the little strip of ground 50 by 300 feet adjoining the Findley.
