American Eagle Lessee Cox Made Rich Strike
Denver, Colo.—One of the richest strikes recently made in Cripple Creek occurred a few days ago in the American Eagle's claim of the Stratton estate, which has the deepest workings in the district, the main shaft having attained a depth of 1,520 feet.
Lessee J. H. S. Cox of Denver, operating through the Mineral Rock shaft at a depth of 250 feet, has cut 12 inches of ore that is practically solid sylvanite, running 70 ounces gold or $1,400 per ton. The vein is well defined, the trend being north and south.
Mr. Cox is also operating through the American Eagle's shaft and getting out about 500 tons a month that runs something less than two ounces.
