"HELL GATE" (View No. 19)

The Hagerman tunnel, almost two miles long, marks the highest point on the line. Just beyond the western entrance is that spot which has become justly famous as a marvel of engineering achievement as well as for its magnificent view of picturesque ruggedness.

Hell Gate is at altitude 10,540 feet. The descent from this point is steep and follows the windings of the Frying Pan River.
