The image claims this to be the start of Independence mine, and while I first felt the scenery is wrong for what I imagined it to look like around the Independence Mine, I later saw the likeness with part of what was known as the Independence old shaft from images seen of that mine so I do agree on the title by December 2016.
It shows the eastern part of the double structure shaft house as per Sanborn 1896. Making it the same as the view seen as facing the photographer in the view of my collection ID: I-00245. This means we are looking at the east and north walls of this old mine.
It is sort of cool to get to see an early mine structure, and we all have to be small at one time, so no problem with this early image except I feel the quality is way too bad, sadly...
