This view has been used in a 1959 book called Forgotten Men of Cripple Creek, appearing on page 83, where the author of the book - Leslie Doyle Spell - claims this view to be inside the Mary McKinney Mine in Anaconda.

Further it is written he is the man with the back to the camera, that photo was done by Harlan who insisted they kept working so he had to have his back towards the photographer.

It is also written that the man at top is pointing to one of the high grade seams they where mining some very rich gold ore from, some narrow seams which ran out into the wall from the main vein.
