Hoosier Mine Sold
The Hoosier mine on Tenderfoot hill, formerly owned by the Grafton Gold Mining Co. has been sold to J. W. Downer and associates, of Colorado Springs, who have taken possession and will, it is announced, start operations shortly.
The Hoosier mine is accredited with production by lessees of about $500,000. The Grafton company was at one time on a dividend-paying basis and paid $10,000 in October 1899.
The deal was made through D. J. Rubridge of Denver, vice-president and treasurer of the Grafton company, since its incorporation in 1896. The consideration has not been made public, but it is understood the deal was for cash.

Hoosier Mine Lease Granted Mr. Shell
Cripple Creek, Colorado.—The Hoosier mine on Tenderfoot hill has resumed operations. A lease of the ground has been granted by B. Shell, under favorable terms, no sinking being required for a year. Mr. Shell's interest in the Hoosier is inspired by several strikes made on Tenderfoot and Ironclad hills recently and by the success which has attended the efforts of other operators on this property.
Its yield is in the neighborhood of $300,000. One shoot surrendered $80,000 to H. J. Anstie, lessee. An extension of this shoot will be sought by Shell. He has started a crosscut in its direction at a depth of 638 feet.

Hoosier Mine Lessees in Very Highgrade at 700 Feet
The lost ore shoot in the Hoosier mine on Tenderfoot hill is believed to have been recovered, and with its discovery in the 700 foot level one of the biggest strikes ever made in the Cripple Creek district is recorded.
The assay values are remarkable, the screenings running as high as $1100 to the ton and none below $100. The Hoosier is probably the most noteworthy shipper in the camp, and produced in the neighborhood of half a million dollars from the upper levels, when the gold-bearing vein disappeared.
As is usually the case, much difficulty was encountered in securing capital to prosecute further development, owing to the fact that the property is located outside of what has heretofore been considered the producing area.
The first of this year however, Chicago capitalists took a long lease on the property and the lost shoot has been found, and promises to make fortunes for all concerned.
