Sheriff's Sale of Index Mining Co. Claims
At a sheriff's sale held recently the Index and the Pointer claims, on Gold hill, owned formerly by the Index Mining Co., were sold to satisfy a judgment secured by the Cripple Creek State bank on a money demand. The company has nine months from the date of execution in which to redeem the property. It is said that the Index will be so fixed financially as to permit the redemption of the property.

Cripple Creek—The Index Co., operating the Pointer property on Gold hill, has made another shipment of 2 -oz. ore. The ore was broken from a 3-ft. vein at a depth of 365 feet. The ore shoot is being drifted upon and W. R. Foley, manager of the company, expects within a short period of time to increase shipments.
One year ago some of the richest kind of ore was mined in the Pointer.

That is What the Putnam Brothers Got for the Pointer.
F.J. and F.A. Putnam yesterday sold the Pointer, a fractional claim of three acress on the southwest slope of Gold Hill, to W.M. Cochrane and John O. Gorman of Joliet, Illinois for which they received in a pot cash the pretty sum of $20,000.
The same gentlemen a few days ago purchased a controlling interest in the stock of the Phonolite Deep Mining and Tunnel Company upon which they intend to do a large amount of work. All properties of this company are located on Cow mountain.

Putnam Brothers will resume operations this morning on the Pointer lode, lying in the gulch below the Irish Mollie. The Putnams yesterday purchased the small interest in the claim which was not already owned by them and will now work the property vigorously.
Quite an amount of development work has already been done on the claim, and there is said to be a good body of ore in sight.
