This view of the Little Frank S. mining operations is from a 1903 USGS Photo from early Oct. 1903 by F. L. Ransome, and just wish the photo had been even sharper and double in size as this view here is scaled up 201% from the available digital file, and possible it would been better with an even higher resolution scan. But this is what I had access to, and this makes this one a true rare view of this mine near summit on east slope of Raven Hill!
I've colored the scene both to help bring out some details and because it looks better I think. There is quite a dump here, an Ore house is seen, but rest is near impossible to see as it is too far into the image and zooming gave very little details, but there is a larger structure, Hoist-house, behind that ore-house. Thankfully, USGS has another view by Mr. Ransome (Library ID: rfl00508), from about 90-degree on this scene, saying there is a Headframe at this mine, but sadly that view is obscured by the Joe Dandy dump so I can't see the hoist-house. Hence this is in reality the best view I know about of this mine operation!
I did procure the colored version of this image. Source was gray-toned, or in common speech black & white. Used an online service and tweaked and worked with image to get what looks best to my eyes for the moment.East View Little Frank S. Mining Operations Near Raven Hill Summit in 1903

This sadly small and not so good look at the Ore-house and Headframe of the Little Frank S. mining operations near summit of Raven Hill, east slope, is from a 1903 USGS Photo from early Oct. 1903 by F. L. Ransome. I so wish the photo had been sharper and double in size as this view here is scaled up 201% from the available digital file, as I know from my own collection that a higher resolution scan brings me closer in, but if the source is not sharp, I end up with same issues as I have here, not much details to get! But this is what I had access to, and I must make do with this rare view of this mine!
I've colored the scene both to help bring out some details and because it looks better in my view. In foreground right, the dump seen belongs to the Joe Dandy Mine, and it obscures the Hoist House of the Little Frank S., which is sad as I then have no useable view of it. But I get a feel of the Ore house and the Headframe, but what that dark mass between those two mentioned structural are, I do not know, details are too bad to make out anything.
This image is sort of a companion to a somewhat slightly better view of the operations, as USGS has another view by Mr. Ransome (Library ID: rfl00509), from about 90-degree on this scene, but that is also sadly a long distance shot, but somewhat better overall, still, this scene gives some idea too.
I did procure the colored version of this image. Source was gray-toned, or in common speech black & white. Used an online service and tweaked and worked with image to get what looks best to my eyes for the moment.North View Little Frank S. Mining Operations Near Summit of Raven Hill in 1903
