The record of the number to tons handled in ten hours at the Taylor and Brunton sampler was smashed yesterday. Commencing yesterday morning the day shift sampled an even 220 tons of ore in ten hours. The best previous record was 204 tons in ten hours.

Denver, Dec. 16.—A Republican special from Cripple Creek last night says:

It is believed by the military commander and his advisers that the conditions no longer require military protection. The non-union men working can fully protect themselves and have so declared themselves.
