Dillon Lessees Moore & Co. Big Strike
The strike in the Dillon mine on Battle Mountain by Moore & Co. is proving to be even larger than was at first reported. The discovery was made at the 700-foot level, where the vein, all of which is pay, is fully 12 feet wide and carries on both the hanging and foot wall fine occurrences of sylvanite. Dillon Happenings
Dillon.—This property on Battle Mountain, in which Michael Finnerty of Denver is largely interested, is becoming one of the principal producers of the district.
graphic for visual presentation of text Ore is being broken in all of the eight levels, with the exception of the sixth, where indications are favorable for soon encountering it. In the seventh and eighth levels, where the best showing is made, the shoot is from eight to eleven feet in width, and the ore runs from $30 to $50 per ton.
graphic for visual presentation of text Featherstone & Company, who are working the property under lease, are shipping about 1,500 tons of ore each month.

Info Title:
Dillon Working 7 of 8 Levels
Colorado Spring, August 4.—Of the eight levels that have been extended from the Dillon shaft on Battle Mountain, ore is being broken in seven, the exception being the sixth level. The mine is fast becoming one of the principal producers of the district, and while the property is under lease, the company is making considerable money, for royalties are received each month on about 1500 tons of ore.
graphic for visual presentation of text The best showing is in the seventh and eighth levels, where the ore is being broken, from eight to 11 feet in width, that makes shipping rock worth from $30 to $50 to the ton in gold. In the fifth level there is two feet of ore that averages from $30 to $40 a ton. The vein in this level is not separate from the veins worked in the lower level. The development is being pushed along as fast as possible, and for that reason the tonnage is being maintained steadily.

Verdict Related to Dillon Mine Death Accident
IMPORTANT VERDICT OF A CRIPPLE CREEK JURY. —————— At the inquest held to inquire into the cause of the death of James E. Borden, killed in the Dillon mine at Victor, Colorado, last week, the coroner's jury returned a verdict censuring the management of the mine and recommending the employment of cagers at all the mines in the district. The verdict was as follows: "We, the Jury, find that the deceased came to his death between the hours of 9 and 10 o'clock, August 3rd, between the 5th and 6th levels of the Dillon mine, by following a loaded car into the shaft, falling a distance of 85 feet. "We further find that said accident was caused by gross carelessness on the part of James H. Featherstone in ringing the cage away from said level while it was in charge of said deceased James E. Borden. "We further find that if a cager had been employed this particular accident could not have occurred. "We heartily recommend that cagers be employed, not only at this mine, but in all the mines of the district." The jury was composed of representative business and mining men.

Dillon in New Ore Body Between Level 7 & 8
Colorado Springs, Oct. 26.—An entirely new body of ore has been encountered between the seventh and eighth levels of the Dillon mine, on Battle Mountain, which will add materially to the value of this territory. The ore body is now measuring about two feet in width, which will give average values of $100 to the ton.
graphic for visual presentation of text The property, which is under lease to the present lessees, has a remarkably bright future, and while they are only working one shaft, all are sending out regular shipments, which return very handsome sums of money to the company from the royalties received.

Dillon Leasing Co. Doing Great
Denver, Colorado.—The Dillon Leasing company, of Cripple Creek, has a June record of ten dividends of $1,000 each. The company has paid 100 per cent. on the capitalization in one month. Such a record is exceptional, for even Cripple Creek, the home of dividend paying mines and leases.
graphic for visual presentation of text The Dillon Leasing company is paying graded royalties, ranging from 15 to 35 per cent. on the higher grades of ore. Ore is being mined from nearly all sections of the mine from the first to the 800-foot level, which is the bottom. The Dillon Leasing company is a close corporation and is composed of John W. Price and Col. J. H. Waters, general manager of the combined Cripple Creek railroads.
graphic for visual presentation of text From present indications Messrs. Waters and Price will continue to extract ore of such a grade that they will be clear each month from $3,000 to $7,000 each.
