Info Title:
Santa Rita to Get New Machinery
Cripple Creek.—(Special.) — Now that the Atlantis Mines Corporation has taken up the bond on the Santa Rita claim the directors of the company have outlined their plan of development work for the future. A new plant of machinery is to be installed and the work of straightening the incline shaft commenced right away. With that work finished the company will start to sink another lift and then go for the ore.
graphic for visual presentation of text In the present shaft there is a good-sized streak of fifty-ounce ore, and it is a well-known fact that with another couple of levels opened the company could easily start the payment of monthly dividends.

A production of 100 tons a month is being made at present from the Santa Rita on Squaw mountain. The grade of ore is from 1.20 ounces to fifteen ounces. The middle grade is about $135 ore. It is coming from the levels from 500 to 600 feet from the surface. Three men are working on ore, while a larger force is being used on development work.
graphic for visual presentation of text This development consists in prospecting at the 600-foot level, where crosscuts are being run for parallel ore bodies. The output is made to pay for the development work, nothing more being attempted.

graphic for visual presentation of textThey Are Inspecting the Lease on the Santa Rita.
graphic for visual presentation of text Alexander Campbell, superintendent of the Burlington and Missouri road, George Hocknell, president of First National bank of McCook, Neb.; Dr. Rohrig, surgeon of the B. & M. road, and J. L. Brown, a wool and hide merchant of Denver, are in camp.
graphic for visual presentation of text They are prominently connected with the B. & M. Leasing company, which holds a bond and lease on the Santa Rita mine on Squaw mountain, and are here partly for the purpose of looking at the property.
graphic for visual presentation of text Superintendent E. F. Conant of the mine, showed the party over the district yesterday, and they were much pleased with what they saw.
graphic for visual presentation of text The Santa Rita now has three levels, but only the lower one is being worked, it being in much better ore than the first two.
graphic for visual presentation of text One result of the visit will probably be that the shaft will soon be put down an additional 150 feet and another level run on the vein.
graphic for visual presentation of text Superintendent Conant is making a good payer of the Santa Rita, and its wealth will doubtless be much greater with depth.
