Peggy Lease Granted to Thompson
Cripple Creek, Colorado.—A lease on the Peggy, on Gold Hill, has been granted to Harold D. Thompson, an attorney and mining man of this city. Mr. Thompson will begin work in a few days. There is ore in sight and several veins of good appearance that have not been prospected.
Access to unexplored zones is made easy by the depth of the shaft, which was sunk to the 450-foot point by the company while a lessee was at work. One short drift was run to a vein, but no further exploration was engaged in at that depth.

On another vein stoping is being done, and an ore body 8 ft. wide is reported with small seams of sylvanite returning high values.
Thirty men employed in two shifts are running four and five machine drills.
From September 10 last to December 27 Gilbert & Co. paid about $5,000 in royalties, and took up the $12,500 bond on December 27.
After January 15, sinking will be resumed.
