The Dead Pine claim, on Battle mountain, owned by the Ophir Co., and the Crown Point claim, on the same hill, owned by the Crown Point Co., have been leased to Arthur Carnduff, who has successfully worked the Commonwealth, in Arequa gulch, the last year. Shipments will start at once as ore has been opened. The Crown Point has lain idle for 10 years because of litigation.

Cripple Creek.—Peter Hanson and associates, operating through the old shaft on the north end of the Dead Pine, on Battle mountain, has opened up a new vein on the 500-foot level at a point approximately 500 feet northeast of the shaft, which has all appearances of being a permanent ore body.
Assays taken from the muck pile range from a half to three ounces to the ton, and the initial or trial shipment has left the property.

FREMONT, Colo., June 12.—Cripple Creek is proving not altogether a low grade camp. Shipments of low-grade ore of eight tons per diem are being made to Pueblo.
An assay by Professor Lamb on some ore from the Dead Pine lode returned no less than $14.50 to the ton. About forty tons are on the dump.
