Jefferson Mining Company.—At the annual meeting of this company in Chicago last week, the following changes were made in the election of officers:
Chas. G. Haskin, of the Kirk Soap Company, was elected president and treasurer
Walter Ioor was elected secretary.
The directors for the coming year will be:
John S. Reynolds, of Chicago.
F. C. N. Robertson, of Chicago.
James W. Nye, of Chicago.
B. H. Conklin, of Chicago.
G. B. Mechem, of Chicago.
The new officers propose working the property of the company with renewed vigor. A larger force of men will soon be placed at the mines, and it is expected will commence shipments soon after.
The company owns eight claims on Gold Hill, situated between the Anaconda and Chicago properties, two of which, the Game Cock and Mattie L., are now being worked. The ore averages $20 per ton gold.
The Santa Fe Railroad runs to the base of the mountain, affording easy transportation of ore. The capital is $1,100,000.

It is rumored that the Grant lease on the Mattie L. has been sold. This is one of the important shippers on Gold hill.

Shepherd, Ballard & Kent; Cripple Creek, Colo., Feb. 29, 1896—An important strike made on Gold Hill during the last week when the Jefferson people made a strike of considerable importance in the bottom of their shaft.

Peter Hanson and John Best, operators of Zoe on Beacon Hill, recently started working on their lease on Mattie L on Gold Hill. They have held the lease from Jefferson Mining Co. for a long time.

Jefferson—John Best, leasing at this mine on Gold hill, reports that he is shipping about a carload a week. The shoot from which he is now extracting ore is about three or four feet wide and is yielding mineral throughout its entire width.

Cripple Creek—A new ore shoot has been opened up on the Mattie L. mine under lease to Ed Kinsley and associates.

A rich strike is reported on the 400-ft. level of the Mattie L. on Gold hill. It is stated that the vein is about 3 ft. in width and will run from $30 to $50 per ton.

The Mattie L. on Gold hill has been bonded to Seaver and Henry for $10,000. These parties are leasing on the property and have recently made some very satisfactory shipments.

A rich strike has been made by the Jefferson company, operating the Mattie L under lease. The find was made in a crosscut from the 400-foot level.

Operations have been resumed at the Jefferson mine by Pierce and associates, who will operate on an extensive scale.

The compressor and hoisting plant on the Anchoria-Leland mine have been started by the leasers of the properties of the Jefferson Gold M. Co., who will work their property with this plant.

Seaver & Henry are shipping regularly from their lease in the Mattie L. mine.

Sheriff Von Phul has leased the Jefferson mine dump on Gold hill. The mine, once a heavy producer of rich ore, has long been idle and the dump has never been worked over.
