THE VOLCANO.
The latest company to come upon the scene of action is the Volcano. It starts out with a good treasury and has started work on its own account. The company owns the Volcano, What Is It, Mound Rock and Red Jacket—in all 25 acres, located on Gold hill due south and adjoining the city limits.
The Volcano was a producer several years ago, but at that time phonolite and basalt dykes were not understood, but at that shipments were made that ran better than four ounces in gold to the ton. The vein from which this ore was taken runs a thousand feet or more on the property, and then enters the Red Bird of the National company.
In fact, National people are largely interested in the Volcano, as W. R. Foley is president and manager. Dan Weyand, vice president, in the directory are most of the men in the National. The company is capitalized at 1,250,000 shares, of which there are in the treasury 350,000 shares. One hundred thousand shares have been sold to people on the inside for $5,000, and if development necessitates it, they will take the remainder at that or a better figure.
A fine plant of machinery has been put over the Volcano shaft, and work on the property will start in earnest this morning.
