This Shaft mark I have given an ID of 851 with name Happy Year Shaft as this is the location of a Shaft with that name on the 1906ish USGS Principal Underground Workings map and it corresponds with this Shaft mark on the 1903ish USGS topomap.
However, using only claim Plat Maps and going by the dates on them, the area of this Shaft would actually belong to the Josephine Lode claim, as on the Amended Plat Map of the Happy Year Lode claim the part where this Shaft is located is not colored in, while it is colored in on the Josephine Lode claim. The Shaft is not on any of the claims Plat Maps though so I decided to go with USGS people on naming as I do have seen references to a Happy Year Shaft, and not to a Josephine shaft. Both claims and others was in 1897 or so consolidated into a company and while ownership has changed over years after that, it still seems to have been treated as a group and not broken up again, so it feels like it is a moot point which ground it really was on…
