Isabella Mine & Mill Stuff in 1908
The Isabella is not doing quite as much as usual, but the cyanide mill seems to be successful with the dump ore, and as this property from the 100 to 700 ft. is in the oxidized zone, there should be no trouble in treating many thousands of tons of ore too low to send to the reduction works.

Isabella Mines Co. Stockholders Report Abstracts
Manager A. C. Gardner and Superintendent Lester S. Grant of the Isabella Mines Co. have just issued a report to stockholders, as follows, covering operations of the property for the last several months:
Since our last report to you, the production by lessees from the Lee shaft has averaged about 30 narrow-gauge cars of ore per month, and an average of 12 narrow-gauge cars of ore per month from the Empire shaft, making a total average of 42 cars per month of low grade ore.
The Western Investment Co., having a lease on the Empire State property, has three sets of sub-lessees at work, and on company account they have sunk a winze below the eighth level of the Empire, on the junction of a dike with the No. 2 Empire vein; the winze is nearly 40 ft. deep, with good values in the bottom. This is the deepest workings on the property where commercial ore has been opened up.
The Co-Operative Mining and Leasing Co., working through the School Section shaft, has done 1,000 ft. of drifting and crosscutting on the Isabella ground, opening several promising veins, and steadily pushing exploration work, with the expectation of cutting pay ore at any time; the ground they are working has never been prospected before, and it looks very promising.
Fackerall & Co. continue to produce considerable ore, mostly of low grade, at the present time. Their production is not as large as it has been; they are now mining below the sixth level, with the intention of crosscutting for the same ore on the eighth level.
The Western Reduction Co., having a lease on the mill tailings dump, are treating the same in the Isabella mill, but up to the present time the results have not been very satisfactory. They are working steadily and expect to perfect the plant and put the enterprise on a profitable basis soon.
On your company account over 1,500 ft. of development work has been done during the last eight months, without any beneficial results, the same representing an outlay of about $8,000.
We now have eight sets of lessees at work on the property, which is a considerable falling off since our last report, due to the disappointing conditions in the property.
The board of directors, after discussing matters fully, thought best to sink the Lee shaft to a greater depth. Our fourteenth level, which is 1,100 ft. deep, corresponds with the 700-ft. level of the Golden Cycle and the 800-ft. level of the Vindicator.
Below these levels both the Cycle and the Vindicator have been mining their richest ore; the vein system on these properties and the Isabella have the same trend and are located on the same hill. The board of directors has decided to sink the shaft about 500 ft. deeper. This sinking will be done as rapidly as possible.
We are now down 125 ft. below the fourteenth level, and we are pleased to say the shaft rock is highly mineralized.
In order to do this work it was necessary to raise funds, so the company had to borrow $10,000 at 6 per cent.
It was found necessary to purchase quite a lot of new equipment; a number of air drills have been purchased, as well as a new air compressor. This new air compressor was installed lately and is working very satisfactory. It is the latest model Ingersoll-Rand, electrically driven, and is especially adapted to great variation of load and the high altitude of the district.
The cost of the foundation for the compressor and the preliminary work for sinking the shaft was near $3,500.
