This view shows a Short Line train climbing the foot hills six miles from Colorado Springs. The pretty ravines are bridged and deep cuts are made through the granite hills by the roadway.

The three and a half per cent. grade of the road is indicated by the different elevations of the two bridges. Altitude, 7,000 feet.
