The folder is in good shape. It is an old souvenir folder with hand colored pictures, dates unknown, but I estimates around the 1950's... It shows of scenes from the Colorado Springs area which includes Pikes Peak and the Cog Wheel route.
Colorado Springs is Colorado's most celebrated Tourist Resort. Many famous drives and attractions are centered about it. Among them the Seven Falls, and South Cheyenne Canon, the Garden of the Gods, the Pikes Peak Auto Highway, the Pikes Peak Cog Road, the Cave of the Winds, the Gold Camp Road, Cliff Dwellings, the Big Circle Trip thru the Cripple Creek Mining District and Phantom Canon to Canon City and the Royal Gorge and return, and the Broadmoor-Cheyenne Mountain Highway. It is also the center for a great many Sanatoriums and Health Resorts, notable among which are the Union Printers Home.
A striking feature of the city is the splendid wide streets, many such as Pikes Peak Avenue being nearly double the usual width. Pikes Peak, perhaps the best known mountain of America, rears itself to an altitude of 14,109 feet directly west of Colorado Springs and its snow capped top is a guiding beacon over the plains to the East for over a hundred miles.
I hope you enjoy these pictures, it was fun when I got this years back, and I find it quite lovely that I am able to share it here for all to see/find :-)
Enjoy this little trip back to yesterday!
