This prospectus is in a tiny size, just below 9x15 centimeters, but is readable and in good shape, but has "been in use" marks like Discoloration / Wrinkled Paper a few places / Staple Rust, Very / Thin Paper cause Bleeding from backside. Sadly, no date given, but text talks about the year 1899 production as if it has not happen yet, making dating this paper to sometime in 1899. Paper is stapled together and has a total of 28-pages inclusive covers, with a folded map attached at the inside end. Not all pages has info, but most of them has either text or an image.
The album consist of scanned pages of this Prospectus for The Philadelphia and Pittsburg Gold Mining Company, and their lease of the Golconda Mine on Squaw Mountain, just west of the town of Victor, Colorado, in the Cripple Creek District. In addition to lot of text not really say much about the mine operation there are 4 pics included in addition to the map of the around the Golconda Mine with several other mines marked out, as well as railroad grades.
Dates to 1899, most likely sometime during the fall of that year. I have seen reports from a local newspaper named "Morning Times" in September of 1899 where it is reported about machinery being in place for operation in the Sept. 23 issue. The description can fit with what is shown in the images in this prospectus, so I presume this to be from around October 1899.
Please enjoy this little trip back to yesterday! Yes, I do hope you enjoy sort of reading this book by browsing these images, as I do find enjoyment in the fact that I am able to share it here for all to see/find. After all, items like this can be hard to find, and sometimes quite expensive! This prospectus being such an item, as it did cost me USD 207.75 with shipping to Norway when I got this through eBay in first week of February 2022!
