Lexington People Pushing Things
The Lexington People Pushing Things.
The Lexington Gold Mining company is pushing work on its various properties in the camp. The Jeff Davis and Jeff Davis No. 2, are being vigorously worked under lease by Michael Gilmore and others. The Clara D., on Gold hill is being worked by two sets of lessees and a strong vein has been opened. The company has secured a two years lease on the Robert E. Lee and have just let a contract from cross-cutting the lode the entire width of the claim from west to east. In a day or two the Lexington company will start a drift in the Chance which they have now under lease from the Anchoria-Leland company. The drift will be run from the 200-foot level to the south side line of the Chance. Altogether the company now has twenty-five men employed. No stock is being offered on the market at present.

Clara D. with Important Discovery
AN ENORMOUSLY RICH FIND IN THE CLARA D
——————
The Property is Owned by the Lexington Company
——————
WILL BE A DIVIDEND PAYER.
News of an important discovery in the Clara D., on Gold hill, that will shortly make a dividend payer out of the Lexington, leaked out yesterday. Some days ago in the level at 158 feet, some 70 feet from the shaft a narrow vein widened out to three feet, half of which is rock that will average anywhere from 40 to 50 ounces in gold to the ton.
The moment it was found, work was started for it at the 190-foot level, and here it was found as strong and rich as above. In each level it has been drifted on for 12 feet, and it appears to improve with every shot.
This vein is the extension of the Maloney vein on the Anchoria Leland and in the chute found on that property it did not take long to extract $100,000 worth of ore.
Here is one case where lessees missed a fortune. When Horner and Black worked the property General Manager J. S. Jones begged them to drive the drift that he has since, and offered to pay them $4 a foot for the work if they would only comply with his request and this they refused to do.
If the present showing on the Clara D. holds out for a fortnight it will mean that the Lexington will become a dividend payer.

Lexington Happenings
Lexington.—Work has been resumed in the main shaft of this property after an idleness of two years. A new cross vein to the shaft has been encountered and the ore shoot opened for a distance of seventy-five feet. It is four feet in width and is said to run about $30 to the ton. Four machine drills are to be put in and the shaft sunk seventy-five feet deeper, giving it a depth of 400 feet.
Lessees are working the dump of the main shaft with good results. The screenings are said to average $30 to the ton, while the coarse material varies between $40 and $60 to the ton.
About 15,000 tons of rock yet remain in the dump.

Lexington Lessee Might Use E. Porter Gold King Shaft Due to Fire
The fire which totally destroyed the shaft-house and machinery of the Lexington Gold Mining Co. on the west slope of Gold hill recently will not interfere with the plans of the company to a great extent.
The head-frame, ore-house, and trestle were saved, and the present lessee, Iver Weston, will probably hoist his ore through the shaft of the E. Porter Gold King until an electric hoist can be installed.
