Last Dollar Mine During 1904

Last Dollar Findings at 1300 Feet Bring Hopes
Colorado Springs. Jan. 30.—The new strike that was recently made in the bottom of the 1300-foot level of the Last Dollar property, on Bull Hill, is holding out remarkably well, as at the present time it is measuring about 10 feet in width, with every bit of this returning values of 2½ ounces to the ton.
graphic for visual presentation of text The officers of the company are feeling remarkably well over the new find, as it was generally considered by outsiders if not officials that the company had seen its best days. It only goes to show that any piece of property in the camp may furnish a surprise at any moment.

graphic for visual presentation of text The remarkable part of the new find is that it was encountered at such a depth, and the stockholders and the officers of the company are now of the opinion that the future of the Last Dollar property is remarkably bright.
graphic for visual presentation of text The opening of this ore body at 1300 feet again demonstrates that with depth properties are producing richer ore than they ever did from the ore shoots opened near the surface.

Last Dollar Cross-Cutting at 1320 Feet
LAST DOLLAR.—Superintendent Waldron has commenced cross-cutting to the ore body at a depth of 1,320 feet. With the exception of the Bluebird mine, this is the greatest depth attained in this section of the district.
graphic for visual presentation of text About two years ago work was suspended in the 1,200-foot level on account of water, but owing to the drainage tunnel only a few buckets of water are now brought to the surface each shift from the new cross-cut.

Last Dollar High Grade Ore Shipments
The Last Dollar mine located on Bull hill, sent out during the past month over 800 tons of ore, every pound of which is smelting grade. The ore was broken in drifts extending from every level from the 100 foot point down to 1200 feet. It has just been made public that this mine recently made some shipments of exceptionally high grade ore. One carload was settled for at the rate of $1960 per ton or $39,200 for the lot.
graphic for visual presentation of text Two other cars are said to have returned $48,000. This ore was uncovered at the bottom of the main shaft which is 1250 feet in depth.
graphic for visual presentation of text The mine is closely guarded, which is indication enough that something better than low grade ore is being mined.

1902 Development in Last Dollar
The year of 1902 just ended, has been the most important one in the history of Cripple Creek, from the standpoint of development. Never before have there been seen such strong indications of the permanency of ore shoots with depth. For the first nine months of the year, the Last Dollar, on Bull Hill, was undergoing the blocking out system.

Last Dollar Strike
The showing being made at this time upon the phenomenal strip in the 1,050-foot level of the Last Dollar mine at Victor is of such a remarkable nature that the company has determined to sink its main shaft another 100 feet, making the total depth 1,150 feet.
graphic for visual presentation of text The reason why more is not known about this wonderful strike is the fact that the company is a close corporation. It is known, however, that the rich ore contains slips of sylvanite of unheard of richness. A mining expert who examined the property saw slivers of sylvanite eighteen inches long and ninety per cent metallic.
graphic for visual presentation of text This is the highest record for the Cripple Creek district.
