Union Gold Mining Co. Inquiry
Union and Colorado Mining Stocks.
graphic for visual presentation of text 4718. (Schenectady, N. Y.) Please inform me regarding what you think of the Union gold mines as an investment? What gold mine stock do you consider the best for an investment? What is a good low priced stock for a speculation?
graphic for visual presentation of text
graphic for visual presentation of text Ans.: The Union Gold Mining Company owns 35 acres of patented ground on Bull Hill, which has produced $950,000 and paid over $84,000 in dividends. The entire property is being worked under lease at royalties ranging from 30 to 50 per cent. The company is capitalized at 1,250,000 $1 shares. The stock is very favorably regarded in Colorado, and was quoted at about 44c. on January 19.
graphic for visual presentation of text It would be invidious to single out one particular gold stock as the best for an investment, but, among others, may be mentioned Elkton, Isabella, Portland, Vindicator, Gold Coin, etc. The same remark applies as to a good low-priced stock for a speculation, as there are a number of about equal merit, on the best selection from which probably no two equally well informed persons would exactly agree.

Delmonico Sinks Fast
Cripple Creek—Work on the Delmonico gold mine is being rapidly pushed to strike the 1000-foot level, when the great ore bodies found in adjoining mines are expected to be run through. The Findley and Shurtloff mines, adjacent to the Delmonico, were worked in a desultory way until this level was reached, and are now paying handsome dividends.
graphic for visual presentation of text The Delmonico is also on the great Vindicator vein, which is well known as a heavy producer. By going down another 150 feet, it is expected that the Delmonico will run into the high grade formation in which the Vindicator is now drifting.

Delmonico Dump Mill
A small milling plant has been installed below the lower dump of the Delmonico mine and an attempt to recover the gold from the waste pile is being made. Two solution tanks, precipitate boxes and small gasoline engine for pumping constitute the entire plant.
graphic for visual presentation of text The dump will be treated without crushing ore or removal. That part of the dump to be treated is first subject to saturation, so that the ground on which the dump is located may absorb all possible moisture.
graphic for visual presentation of text The surface of the dump is then covered with lime and a strong solution of cyanide is sprinkled over it. This solution percolates the dump and is caught in a cement trough at the base of the waste pipe.
