South Cheyenne Canon was a Flagstop type of Station along the Short Line route.

It was located at Milepost 13.0 coming from Colorado Springs according to info in the book Short Line To Cripple Creek. Same distance is given in the Blue Books I've seen, but one source I have seen gives the distance distance from Colorado Springs to be 14.6 miles with an elevation of 8324 feet. Indicating maybe they moved the location of the stop at one time? The Blue Books timetables I've seen gives the distance from Cripple Creek to have been 32.8 miles.

Elevation in both the above named book and in the Blue Books Timetables are given as 8395 feet, or at 2558,80 meter if your metric like I am.

The following Facilities/Structures have been reported to been at South Cheyenne at one time or another;

• Water tank, 16 x 24 feet, constructed December 1900.

Conductors and brakemen of freight trains were instructed to follow the same rules here as at North Cheyenne, which by the Inspection and blocking rules of the C.S. & C.C.D. required conductors and brakemen to inspect running gear of trains while taking water at this station.
