FAIRVIEW
Ten miles from Colorado Springs, at.the confluence of North and South Cheyenne Canons, is the "gateway" to Buffalo and Grouse Parks, romantic spots, where game and fish are plentiful. Burrros and ponies are stationed at Fairview for tourists who desire that mode of travel, or the Parks may be comfortably reached on foot over easy trails and shady paths, skirting a crystal mountain stream fed by the beautiful St. Mary's Falls, located at the intersection of Buffalo and Grouse Parks. Free ground for campers, upon application to H. T. O'Brien, No. 5 South Cascade avenue, Colorado Springs, or to persons in charge of the Park. All conveniences, including refreshment booths, etc.
ST. PETER'S DOME
Fifteen miles from Colorado Springs, guarding an entrance to South Cheyenne, is a natural mountain park, with dense Pine and Spruce forests, purest mountain water, and all facilities for a pleasant day's outing for large and small parties. A trail leads to the summit of St. Peter's Dome, and the "Stars and Stripes" may be seen waving every day from the top of the flagstaff. The view from the peak of this mighty granite sentinel embraces the magnificent canons, famous mountain peaks and thriving cities and towns in the valleys, and is un surpassed.
Burros and ponies are available for the ascent, or it may be made on foot, over an easy and wide trail.
DUFFIELD'S
Eighteen miles from Colorado Springs, is a pretty mountain park, 9,300 feet above sea level, from which a magnificent and unobstructed view of Colorado Springs, Broadmoor and the rolling plains may be obtained. The Pine and Spruce forests on the gentle slopes of the hills, leading to the canons, afford opportunity for cool and refreshing rambles.
ROSEMONT, THE MAGNIFICENT.
Midway between Colorado Springs and Cripple Creek District, just west of the Summit, is a beautiful natural park, surrounded by giant mountain peaks, among which are Mt. Rosa, Big Chief, St. Louis, etc. Here may be found an abundance of pure sparkling water from innumerable gushing springs, while the many rambles among the tall spruce and pine trees, exuding their health-giving fragrance, will afford delightful recreation.
A trail from Rosemont leads to the Seven Lakes, where trout are abundant. There is good fishing also in the pretty streams running through Rosemont Park. A few miles south of Rosemont, reached by good wagon road, are the interesting Beaver Falls.
There are several rustic hotels at Rosemont, (a new one just built), where meals, lodging and refreshments may be obtained at reasonable rates. A dancing pavilion, refreshment and amusement booths, ball grounds, etc., are among the latest improvements and this resort will be the Mecca for thousands of people from Cripple Creek District and Colorado Springs during the summer months.
CATHEDRAL PARK
At Clyde Station, 15 miles from Cripple Creek and 30 miles from Colorado Springs, is one of Nature's most romantic and wonderful resorts. Just south of the Station is a beautiful natural park, carpeted with luxuriant grasses and flowers and planted with mountain aspen, pine and spruce, with three large springs furnishing the purest of water.
West of Clyde Station is Cathedral Park, noted for its sublime scenery and fantastic rocks and cathedral spires—a truly wonderful sight, rivalling, it is said, the famous Garden of the Gods.
The streams abound in trout, making the resort a paradise for the angler, while distant only three miles, over a good road, are the famous Seven Lakes. the great fishing resort. Meals and lodging may be obtained at the rustic cottage adjoining the Station.
Particular attention is called to the many improvements at Rosemont, "the magnificent," including commodious dancing pavilion, new hotel, base ball grounds, shady promenades and everything essential to a first-class picnic resort.
